Recreation Director

Johnathan joined the Blue Mountain Recreation Commission on August 16, 2016.   Johnathan grew up in Grand Island, NY.  He was a competitive swimmer for 11 years and spent 9 years with the Town of Tonawanda Recreation Department working in Aquatics and Fitness at a state of the art facility that was built for the World University Games, held in Buffalo, NY in 1993.  Johnathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness and graduated from Canisius College with his Masters in Sport Administration. 

Johnathan brings over 10 years of experience in facility and program management.  He has managed Aquatics, Youth Sports, Summer Camp, and Wellness programs.  Johnathan has served as a swimming coach for a variety of teams growing up.  He currently serves as a volunteer soccer coach for the St. Thomas More Soccer Club and is a certified Performance Specialist. 

Johnathan grew up a lover of all Buffalo sports teams, including the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.  He enjoys spending time with his family and being active.  He enjoys exercising and playing anything sport related in his free time.  Johnathan is excited to join the Blue Mountain Recreation Commission and bring his passion and commitment to the community.​​



Recreation Supervisor - Sports & Playgrounds

Jason Boris joined the Blue Mountain Recreation Commission as a Recreation Supervisor on September 22, 2014 after serving 14 successful years as the Executive Director of the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) in Tamaqua, PA (2001-2014). Boris brings with him an extensive background in community recreation and will be responsible for overseeing youth sports activities, adult athletic programs and the summer playground program at Blue Mountain.


On December 4, 2014, Boris met the requirements and standards set forth by the National Recreation and Park Association's National Certification Board and was granted certification as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector. 


Boris graduated from Tamaqua Area High School in 1996 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Allentown College of Saint Francis de Sales (now DeSales University) in 2000. In addition to his responsibilities with the Blue Mountain Recreation Commission, Boris has also spent 14 years as sports writer for The Times News (a local newspaper based out of Lehighton, PA) and has been a PIAA football official for the past 15 years. He also previously served as a girls volleyball coach with St. Jerome’s Regional School (CYO), the Coal Crackers Volleyball Club (AAU) and Marian Catholic High School.


Boris is a huge football fan and has been following the Cincinnati Bengals religiously for most of his life. As a member of the media and a self-professed “draftnik,” he is also known nationally for his NFL Mock Drafts.  He also enjoys playing fantasy sports, going to amusement parks, casinos and spending time with family and friends. Boris is a resident of Hometown, PA and is very excited for the opportunity to work with the Blue Mountain Recreation Commission.

Office Manager

Jennie joined the staff of the Blue Mountain Recreation Commission in February of 2008.  She received her Associate’s degree in Administrative Office Technology from McCann School of Business and Technology in January of 2008.  Prior to working for the Recreation Commission, she completed her internship following a part-time position with the Blue Mountain School District.  Jennie’s administrative duties include:  greeting and assisting the public, administrative support, bookkeeping and managing recreation finances, and website development and maintenance. Jennie grew up outside of Schuylkill Haven and now resides in Orwigsburg with her husband, Ray and two sons, Dean and Adam.  She enjoys spending time with her family and finding something enjoyable to do during the weekends from shopping to family outings.  Her goal is to continue helping the recreation commission to better its programs and enhance the quality of its community outreach.
