This Aquatic Exercise program will be designed to enhance total body conditioning without stress to soft tissue of the body. The buoyancy and cooling effect of the water allows the participant to enjoy exercising with less stress on the joints. Class will work on both upper & lower body +conditioning & endurance. Emphasis will be placed on movement for fitness and fun, not on skill, and the program will be undertaken at one’s own level of endurance mostly in the shallow end of the pool. THERE IS NO NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM TO PARTICIPATE.
All participants are asked to wear a mask while in the facility. Participants can remove their mask while participating in their Aquatic Exercise Class.
Locker rooms will be unavailable for use.
Due to recommendations and guidelines, we are reducing the number of participants in the pool and our swim classes in order to help ensure safety precautions and help maintain social distancing.
“YoGonnaMove” is a unique program designed to get you outside and moving. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23 and Wednesday, July 28 on the field behind the Recreation Office. “YoGonnaMove” is a health and fitness initiative that incorporates yoga and running/walking. It is for all ages and ability levels (and great for families). Pack your yoga mat (or beach towel) and sneakers.
This is an opportunity to get in touch with nature for a 30-minute run, jog or walk at your own pace with a positive pack of people. Everyone will lead out together, staggered by speed/pace utilizing the walking trail at the Blue Mountain Middle School complex. Afterwards, Amanda Kester (owner and registered yoga instructor from Seas of Compassion Yoga) will lead the group through a 45-minute yoga flow with deep stretching and relaxation on the field behind the Recreation Office. Increase your stamina and flexibility, loosen your muscles, and lighten your mood with like-minded people while heading home clear and ready for anything.
The cost to register for this program is $10 per date. At least 10 participants are needed to run the class. You can register for the program online at registration.bluemountainrec.com
